Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's First Valentine's Day Apart

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's First Valentine's Day Apart

Here’s a story that’s got a little bit of everything—love, duty, and some seriously sweet surprises. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are officially a married couple, and their first Valentine’s Day together couldn’t have been more heartwarming, even though they spent it miles apart. Let me set the scene for you: Meghan, who's expecting their first child, stayed cozy at home in London, while Harry was off in Norway, braving the cold for a military visit. But don’t worry, the day wasn’t all work and no play for His Royal Highness.

A Royal Valentine's Day Adventure

Now, picture this: Prince Harry, ruggedly handsome as ever, traveling all the way to Bardufoss, Norway, for Exercise Clockwork—a military operation where soldiers are trained to survive in some of the harshest conditions Mother Nature can throw at them. But here’s the kicker—it was also the 50th anniversary of the Commando Helicopter Force and Joint Helicopter Command deploying to this very base. Harry, who’s the Captain General of the Royal Marines, made a grand entrance in full uniform to mark the occasion.

But the trip wasn’t all about military business. There was a little romance mixed in, too. During his tour of the base, Harry found himself inside a Quincey Shelter—a tiny igloo-like structure made of snow. And inside? Well, let’s just say the troops went above and beyond to make sure Harry felt the love, even though Meghan was miles away. Stick around, because you won’t believe what they did!

Now, this is where things get really special. Inside the Quincey Shelter, the soldiers had hung up photos of Harry and Meghan from their magical wedding day in May 2018. If that wasn’t sweet enough, they’d also lit candles and even played romantic music to set the mood. Can you imagine how Harry must have felt walking in there? He couldn’t help but joke with the troops, saying, “You weirdos,” in his signature playful style. But then he added, “It’s very kind of you to invite me into your private shrine or whatever you want to call it. And the music, is that part of it? Romantic, isn’t it?”

    Meghan's Take on Valentine's Day

Meghan, as many of us know, has always had a soft spot for Valentine’s Day. Back in 2015, when she was blogging on her now-defunct lifestyle site, The Tig, she wrote about how much she loved the holiday, even if she sometimes felt a little blue. “Hook, line and sinker, I am such a sucker for Valentine’s Day,” she confessed. But she also shared a wise piece of advice: “I think you need to be your own Valentine.”

In the same post, Meghan shared a touching story about how her Suits costars, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres, helped her through a tough patch during a previous Valentine’s Day. “Last season I was chatting with my Suits sister wives, Sarah and Gina, and was in some sort of funk, bemoaning something that was so futile I don’t even remember what it was now,” she wrote. “But I was faaaaaar from showing [myself] self-love.”

One of her wise costars stopped her mid-complaint and reminded her to be kind to herself. Meghan recalled, “Hey! That’s my friend you’re talking about. Be nice to her.” It was a powerful reminder to treat herself with the same care she showed others. Meghan concluded, “They were reminding me to treat myself as well as I treat those closest to me. To be my own valentine.”

A Royal Reunion on the Horizon

Though Meghan and Harry are spending their first Valentine’s Day apart, there’s no doubt they’ll make up for lost time when they reunite. For now, Harry’s got his duties to attend to, and Meghan’s likely enjoying some well-deserved rest as she prepares for their little bundle of joy. But when they’re together again, you can bet it’ll be filled with love, laughter, and all the relaxation they deserve.

So, let’s raise a glass to Meghan and Harry, a couple who’ve shown the world what true partnership and love look like, even when life throws curveballs their way.
