Let’s give it up for Jason Bateman, folks! At the 2019 SAG Awards on Sunday, January 27, this incredible actor took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Ozark. But here’s the real kicker—his acceptance speech? Pure gold. The guy poured his heart out, and we couldn’t help but feel every word.
In a moment that had the audience on their feet, Jason, 50, got real about the people who keep him grounded. "I would like to say specifically though to my wife [and] my two daughters — Amanda, Franny, and Maple — without you, none of it would be enjoyable, and it probably wouldn’t be possible," he said, his voice cracking with emotion. "I love you more than I even tell you I do, and I’ll be home for kisses so don’t go to bed. Amanda, pop a mint, I’m coming to give you yours in about five minutes." Can we just pause for a second and appreciate how adorable that is?

A Standing Ovation and a Loving Wife
As Jason walked offstage, the audience erupted into applause, celebrating not just his talent but the authenticity and vulnerability he brought to his speech. Waiting for him offstage was none other than his actress wife, Amanda Anka. The couple, who tied the knot back in 2001, has built a relationship based on friendship, mutual respect, and a shared passion for life.

In a past interview with the Daily Telegraph, Jason revealed the secret to their enduring love. "I looked around at the relationships that were the longest in my life, and they were the ones I had with my friends. I thought, if I only wanted to get married once, I should probably marry a friend," he explained. "I wanted to marry somebody who wasn’t someone I had to be in any particular mood to want to be around — with close friends, you can be with them no matter what mood you’re in. I just waited until I found a girl that really was that in my life. Amanda is and that’s why it feels so effortless. It gets better every single year." Talk about relationship goals, right?
Family Ties and Career Choices
Amanda, who also works as an actress, notably starred in the 2004 comedy Taxi. But when it comes to their two young daughters, Jason has some interesting thoughts on the family business. When asked if he’d encourage his daughters to follow in their parents’ footsteps and pursue acting, Jason admitted he might steer them in a different direction.
