Michael Douglas Embraces Aging with Grace and Planning

In Netflix's sitcom The Kominsky Method, Michael Douglas plays a somewhat bitter acting teacher past his prime, often making jokes about getting older. However, in real life, the 74-year-old actor has a much more positive outlook on aging. Speaking to The Mirror in early February, Douglas shared, "The upside of aging is that you become more selective about how you spend your time. You wake up in the morning and think about what you want to accomplish that week, instead of just going with the flow." It’s clear that Douglas has embraced the idea that time is precious, and he’s determined to make the most of it.

He joked about how his family, including wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and kids Dylan and Carys, tease him because he plans holidays up to six months in advance. "There’s much more planning involved now," Douglas admitted. "Suddenly, you realize that time isn’t infinite. Your time is finite now, and you want to make the most of it." This shift in perspective seems to have brought a newfound appreciation for life's moments.

"After going through cancer and coming out the other side, it feels like a rebirth," he said. "You start to see priorities differently. You have a much deeper appreciation for your marriage, your children, and all the little things in life." This experience seems to have deepened his connection with his family, making him more appreciative of the time they spend together.
