When SNL Tackles Hollywood Legends

Let’s face it—being a big deal in Hollywood often means becoming the subject of a Saturday Night Live sketch. And that’s exactly what happened to the legendary Glenn Close. The esteemed actress recently opened up about Kate McKinnon’s impression of her, which left her scratching her head in bewilderment.

At the Costume Designers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills on February 19, Close shared her thoughts on McKinnon’s take. “I saw it! But to be honest, I didn’t quite get what she was doing,” the 71-year-old Oscar-nominated star told Closer Weekly. “It left me a little confused … I must’ve come across as harsh!” Yet, Close insists it’s all in good fun. After all, this isn’t her first rodeo with SNL; she’s hosted the iconic NBC show before and would gladly do it again.

Back to SNL: Would She Return?

When asked if she’d be open to hosting SNL again, Close didn’t hesitate. “Oh, I’d love to do it! Joking about me? Heck yeah, I’d love to do it. I’ve only done it twice,” she quipped. Clearly, Close isn’t one to shy away from self-deprecation or the spotlight. Maybe it’s time for SNL creator Lorne Michaels to give her a call! By the way, speaking of hosting, this year’s Academy Awards won’t have a main emcee. Close shared her thoughts on the decision, saying, “You know, a lot of times when things don’t go as expected, it brings more creativity and room for something different. That’s how I’m looking at it.” Close is nominated for Best Actress for her role in The Wife, an award many expect her to win.

“I’m definitely thinking about it,” Close said about the possibility of taking home the Oscar and what she’ll say if she does. “I take very seriously the fact that millions of people watch this. By the time my award comes up, they might have all gone to bed. [Laughs] But hey, you never know, right?”
