Now, their incredible journey is set to be immortalized in a six-episode limited series, brought to you by the same team behind the critically acclaimed Stan & Ollie.
Joan had this to say in a heartfelt statement: “I’m absolutely thrilled that such a talented and prestigious team has decided to tell our story. I know my dear sister Jackie would be just as excited as I am to be part of this project.” Adding her voice to the excitement, Penelope Skinner, the brilliant mind behind the show’s writing, shared: “I’m honored to dive into the remarkable lives of these two extraordinary women. There’s so much more to Joan and Jackie than the glitz and glamour we see on the surface. These sisters have lived lives that are nothing short of aspirational and inspiring.”

Joan’s Journey: From Grandma’s Splits to Hollywood Stardom
Joan credits her grandmother for planting the seed of her future career. “My grandma was a dancer and a soubrette, performing for troops during the Boer War. She taught me to sing, tap dance, and even how to do the splits, a trick I still pull off today,” Joan revealed to London’s The Guardian. “She inspired me to dream big. But my dad, Joe, who followed her into the entertainment business, wasn’t a fan of my acting aspirations. He warned me I’d be washed up by 23. Thankfully, I didn’t listen!”
Jackie’s Path: From Middle Child to Bestselling Author
Jackie had a different journey, one shaped by her position as the middle child. “When I was born, my parents really wanted a boy,” Jackie once told the Telegraph. “My brother eventually came along, and Joan was already a movie star, so I sort of flew under the radar. Being the middle child had its perks—I could get away with almost anything. But it wasn’t until I was kicked out of school that my parents realized I existed. Their ultimatum? Hollywood or reform school. Lucky for me, I chose Hollywood and joined my sister Joan there.”
