Andy Cohen, the man who has been a staple in our TV lives, decided to mark his 50th birthday last June as the ultimate farewell to his old life and the grand entrance into his new one. This new chapter includes his role as a first-time father to baby Benjamin Allen Cohen, who made his debut in early February. It's like Andy stepped into a whole new world, and he's ready to embrace it with open arms.

Andy opened up to People magazine about this major shift, saying, "I lived my life as though it was my last year on the planet." He knew his life was about to change drastically, so he threw himself a big party to celebrate the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. "[It was my] going away party," he joked. It’s like he was saying, "Alright, universe, I’m ready for whatever you’ve got next!"

Planning for the Future While Celebrating the Past

Here’s the kicker: Andy's surrogate got pregnant just a week before his birthday last summer. This timing allowed Andy to set the tone for his party and make it extra special. “There were a group of people at the party who knew that,” Andy shared. “That was absolutely the subtext of the entire affair.” It’s almost like he was saying goodbye to his old life and hello to the new one all at the same time. Talk about a meaningful celebration!

Before becoming a dad, Andy made sure to squeeze in all the fun he could. “I went to London twice. I followed the [Grateful] Dead on tour. I went to Israel for the first time,” he said. “I went to Europe for three weeks. I did things that I just took advantage of every opportunity, so to speak, and it was a joyous, joyous year.” He deliberately planned his adventures because he knew his life was about to change forever. It’s like he was saying, "Alright, let's enjoy this moment while it lasts because the next chapter is going to be incredible."

Adjusting to Parenthood

Andy’s son, Benjamin, is less than two weeks old, and it’s no surprise that the TV personality has been a “nervous wreck” since his little boy’s arrival. “Andy hasn’t slept a wink, because he said he doesn’t want to miss anything,” a source close to the Bravo star revealed to Radar Online. Andy told one of his friends that he will never need a man again because he now has the love of his life.
