Love in the Spotlight: Michelle Pfeiffer and David E. Kelley
When Michelle Pfeiffer joined Instagram, it was no surprise that one of her very first posts was a heartwarming photo celebrating 25 years of marriage with her husband, David E. Kelley. “The luckiest girl in the room for 25 years,” she wrote, capturing the essence of their enduring love. For those who’ve followed her career, this romantic gesture wasn’t just a moment—it was a reflection of the deep bond she shares with the man behind some of TV’s biggest hits, including Big Little Lies. Back in 1993, Michelle, already a Hollywood sensation thanks to films like The Fabulous Baker Boys and Batman Returns, tied the knot with David. But her journey to finding true love wasn’t always straightforward. Before David, she was married to actor Peter Horton, best known for his role in Thirtysomething. They divorced in 1988, paving the way for her to meet the love of her life.

Mom’s Advice: Career Before Love
Michele, now 60, often reflects on her mother’s advice, which has shaped her life in profound ways. “She always told me, ‘Michelle, whatever you do, before you get married, have a career first,’” she recalled fondly. It was advice that resonated deeply with her, especially growing up in Orange County, California, where her mom was a housewife and her dad an air-conditioning contractor. “We didn’t have much money,” Michelle admitted. “We were living paycheck to paycheck, so my dad always emphasized the importance of saving for a rainy day.” Even as a child, Michelle learned the value of hard work, earning 50 cents for cleaning broken refrigerators her dad brought home to fix.
Raising the Next Generation
Michele and David, 62, have instilled the same values in their children, Claudia Rose, 25, and John Henry, 24. “Being a parent is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do,” she confessed. “Their lives are in your hands, and it’s a responsibility I take very seriously.” While she acknowledges that no one is perfect, Michelle approaches parenting with humor and grace. “Like all parents, my husband and I just do the best we can, hold our breath, and hope we’ve set aside enough money for our kids’ therapy,” she joked.

Back in the Spotlight: Michelle’s Career Renaissance
Michelle’s career took a backseat when her kids were in school, but it wasn’t a conscious decision. “It just became harder and harder the older they got,” she explained. “You’d think it would be the opposite.” Once her children left for college, Michelle found herself reigniting her passion for acting. “People joke about the empty nest, but let me tell you, it’s no laughing matter. It’s really hard,” she admitted. But with roles in Ant-Man and the Wasp and Murder on the Orient Express, her career is thriving once again. “I’m back working because I can, and it feels amazing,” she said. “I love it, and I’m having the time of my life.”
