Almost A Match Made In Hollywood: Angie Dickinson And Frank Sinatra's Near-Marriage

Imagine this: one of the most iconic couples in Hollywood history almost came to life in the 1960s. Angie Dickinson, the legendary actress, has revealed that she came dangerously close to marrying none other than Frank Sinatra, the man who sang "My Way." In an upcoming interview on CBS Sunday Morning, Angie shares the untold story of their near-marriage, a tale that could have rewritten Hollywood history.

A Near-Marriage That Never Was

In a candid moment, Angie Dickinson, now 87 years old, opens up about her time with the legendary singer. The two worked closely together on the iconic 1960 film Ocean’s 11, and it wasn’t long before their professional collaboration turned into a personal connection. Angie reveals, “We got very close to getting married in 1964.” But, as she goes on to explain, Sinatra wasn’t exactly ready to settle down. “And I said, ‘Well, I don’t blame you. I wouldn’t wish that on anybody,’” Angie recalled telling Sinatra.

A Tough Decision

Angie continues to explain that while the thought of marrying Frank was tempting, she wasn’t entirely on board with the idea herself. “I actually didn’t want to marry him,” she confessed. “So I didn’t want him to ask me to marry him. Because I didn’t want to say no to Frank Sinatra.” This heartfelt admission sheds light on the complexities of relationships, especially when two powerful personalities are involved. It’s not always about love; sometimes, it’s about knowing when to let go.

Instead, Angie went on to marry composer Burt Bacharach in 1965. Their union lasted until 1981, and they had a daughter, Lea Nikki, who tragically passed away in 2007. Angie doesn’t shy away from sharing her honest thoughts about her ex-husband. “He never loved me, I can tell you that right now – the way one loves,” she stated. “He loved in his own way, which is not too good. And, so, he had no respect for me.” Despite the harsh words, Angie adds that she did like Burt "a lot."

    Frank Sinatra's Love Life

Frank Sinatra, on the other hand, was no stranger to the altar. Over his lifetime, he was married four times. His first marriage was to Nancy Barbato from 1939 to 1951. Following that, he tied the knot with actress Ava Gardner, a relationship that lasted six years. Sinatra also married Mia Farrow in 1966, but their marriage ended in 1968. His longest and final marriage was to Barbara Sinatra, a relationship that lasted until his passing in 1998 from a heart attack at the age of 82. Barbara Sinatra also passed away in 2017 at the age of 90.
