They were once costars on the iconic series Beverly Hills, 90210, but now, Jason Priestley is stepping forward to honor his dear friend Luke Perry, who tragically left us at the young age of 52.

The 49-year-old actor, who played the beloved Brandon Walsh on the hit Fox show, took to Instagram on March 7 to express his heartfelt emotions in a touching tribute. "It’s taken me a couple of days to figure out how to write this," the caption began, paired with two nostalgic photos of himself and his cherished pal. Jason continued, "My dear friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who genuinely cared for others. Luke wasn’t just a star; he was an incredibly bright light that was extinguished far too soon. That’s why I, along with so many others, are in so much pain today."

Jason expanded on his tribute, saying, "If you were fortunate enough to know Luke, or even crossed paths with him, I know you’re feeling the sadness today as well." The star of Private Eyes concluded his message with a poetic farewell, "The candle that burns twice as bright only burns for half as long... you burned oh, so brightly, Luke. Goodnight Sweet Prince." Remembering Luke Perry: A Star Who Shone Brightly

Jason wasn’t the only one of Luke’s costars to pay tribute to him. Shannen Doherty, another star from Beverly Hills, 90210, shared her grief with People magazine. “I am in shock. Heartbroken. Devastated by the loss of my friend,” she revealed. “I have so many cherished memories with Luke that bring a smile to my face and are forever etched into my heart and mind. Luke was a smart, quiet, humble, and complex individual with a heart of gold and an endless well of integrity and love. During my cancer journey, he reached out to me, and we reconnected, older and wiser, but our bond remained unshaken.”

The Charmed alum, now 47, added, “I will miss him every single day, every minute, every second.”

A Legacy Left Behind

Luke leaves behind a fiancée, Wendy Madison Bauer, and two children, Jack Perry, 21, and Sophie Perry, 18. Both of his children shared heartfelt tributes for their father soon after his passing, celebrating the life of a man who touched so many hearts.
