Hoda Kotb's Journey To Motherhood: A Heartwarming Story

You know Hoda Kotb, right? The vibrant NBC host who’s captured our hearts with her charm and wit? Well, she’s not just a TV star—she’s also a mom on a mission. Hoda, who once thought motherhood might never be part of her journey, is now preparing for her second child. In a recent chat with Entertainment Tonight, she opened up about her family plans. “We think it would be amazing for Haley to have a sibling,” Hoda shared. “Her life has been filled with unique circumstances, and having someone to share those experiences with could be incredible.”

From Adoption Dreams to Reality

In February 2017, Hoda, then 54, adopted her daughter Haley Joy with her partner, Joel Schiffman. Life changed in ways she never imagined. “It’s one of those things where you think you’ve felt it all, but this kind of love? It’s something else entirely,” Hoda gushed. Her journey to motherhood wasn’t easy. Battling breast cancer at 42 left her unable to conceive, but it didn’t diminish her desire to be a mom. “Being a mom has always been on my heart,” she confessed to People. After turning 50, Hoda decided it was time to take the leap into adoption.

A Life-Changing Decision

By the time Hoda turned 50, she and Joel had been together for three years. But when it came to discussing adoption, she felt nervous. “I remember sitting down with Joel to talk about it,” she recalled. “My heart was racing—I was scared of what his answer might be.” To her delight, Joel was all in. “He said yes without hesitation. I cried so hard, I soaked his T-shirt. It was such an incredible moment,” she reminisced. That conversation set the stage for a life filled with love and laughter, one they’re now eager to expand.

Joel works in finance, and Hoda, who recently penned a children’s book titled You Are My Happy, became a permanent cohost on the Today show in January 2018. Despite their demanding schedules, they’re determined to welcome another child. “We’re not sure when it’ll happen, but it’s something we both feel strongly about,” Hoda admitted. Their dedication to building a loving home is truly inspiring.
