But here's the thing: those closest to Meghan, now 37, are revealing that Samantha, 54, and Thomas Jr., 53, weren't exactly part of her life growing up.
Samantha Markle's Attempted Visit to Kensington Palace
According to sources, Samantha reportedly tried to visit Meghan at Kensington Palace but was turned away by security. “They have been made to appear as siblings who had some kind of falling out, and that’s not the truth at all,” said one of Meghan’s longtime friends in an interview with People. “They were never really a part of her life to begin with.”

Meghan’s dad, Thomas Markle, had Samantha and Thomas Jr. with his first wife, Roslyn Loveless, during their marriage from 1964 to 1975. After their divorce, Thomas married Doria Ragland in 1979, and they welcomed Meghan in 1981. However, their marriage ended in the late 1980s. Today, Meghan and her father have a strained relationship. Thomas has spoken publicly about trying to reconnect with his famous daughter after her royal wedding, claiming he hasn’t been able to reach her. But according to Meghan's friends, “He knows how to get in touch with her. He’s never called; he’s never texted. It’s super-painful.”
Samantha Markle Slams Doria Ragland on Social Media
After Meghan’s friends spoke out about her life, Samantha reportedly took to Twitter to criticize the People article, calling it “bulls–t” and “fake news.” According to the Daily Mail, Samantha wrote on her private Twitter account, “#PeopleMagazine this article is total bulls–t there are plenty of text messages and receipts to prove otherwise. Stop the PR crap #Fake News.” She continued, “‘Sources say’ means imaginary sources … And if the narcissist is wealthy they pay very expensive PR teams to change the way people see you.”

Earlier this week, Samantha also reportedly tweeted, “I don’t think people understand. Dad gave her everything and was amazing and very nurturing to her all the way up until she announced the engagement. She is the one who turned for no reason.”
