There’s no denying Melissa McCarthy is a force to be reckoned with. On most days, she’s the life of the party, but when it comes to her daughters’ basketball games, she transforms into the ultimate cheerleader mom! During a hilarious appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 48-year-old comedian opened up about her intense passion for her girls on the court. Let’s just say, she doesn’t hold back when it comes to cheering them on.
“Both of my daughters are really into basketball, and I couldn’t be happier because I’ve always been a huge sports fan,” Melissa revealed, talking about her daughters, Vivian, 11, and Georgette, 8. “I scream and yell like a woman possessed. I’m literally the exact person I always dreaded meeting at a game. It’s a constant stream of encouragement: ‘Get it! Steal it from her! Georgie, you take it from her!’” Melissa’s energy is infectious, and her enthusiasm is unmatched, making her the perfect example of a supportive mom.
Meet Melissa’s Basketball-Loving Daughters

Though Melissa’s daughters — whom she shares with husband Ben Falcone — are now thriving on the basketball court, it wasn’t always smooth sailing. When her youngest, Georgie, first started playing, there was a bit of a learning curve. “They explained the concept of guarding, and Georgie was all about it. She got it right away, or so we thought,” Melissa joked. “We’d call her ‘Hands up, Falcone!’ because she was so into it.”

Learning the Ropes: Georgie’s Early Days on the Court
Melissa recounted one of the funniest moments from Georgie’s early days in basketball. “She guarded everyone, including her own team. Picture this: her teammates trying to move down the court, and there’s Georgie, standing right in their way, arms outstretched, yelling, ‘No, no, no!’” Melissa laughed as she described the scene. “I had to gently remind her, ‘Georgie, that’s your own team!’ But hey, it’s all part of the learning process, right?”
Georgie’s Growth: From Guard to Point Guard

Fast forward to today, and Georgie has taken on a new role as point guard. “She stopped guarding everyone and embraced her new position. A few weeks ago, she made her first basket, and it was pure magic,” Melissa shared. “The entire crowd erupted, my dad was crying, I was crying, and there was even a random woman behind us who couldn’t help but join in the tears. It’s moments like these that make everything worth it.”
Melissa has always been a proud mom, and her admiration for her daughters is evident in everything she says. “They’re so smart, funny, and full of personality. Honestly, I think they’re better than me. They’ve achieved a level of confidence at such a young age that I only found in my late 20s. Watching them grow is truly a gift,” she gushed to Us Weekly. What a heartwarming sentiment!
