Let me tell you a story about Hilaria Baldwin. She’s the mom of four young kids—all under the age of five—and if you think her life is chaotic, well, she’d probably agree with you. But here’s the thing: before she even started her family with her husband, Alec Baldwin, Hilaria never imagined she’d end up with such a big brood.
“When I was growing up, I didn’t exactly picture myself as a mom, let alone the mom of a big family,” Hilaria revealed in an interview with Parents. “I wasn’t focused on having a large family. But life has a funny way of surprising you. I met Alec when I was just 27, and by the time I turned 28, I was already pregnant.”

Hilaria’s Unexpected Journey to Motherhood
Hilaria admits she didn’t plan on diving headfirst into motherhood so quickly. “At first, I thought, ‘Okay, let’s start small. One kid seems manageable,’” she laughed. “But as soon as my first child, Carmen, was born, everything changed. I was still lying there in the delivery room with her on my chest, and I turned to Alec and said, ‘I want to do this again.’ It was like love at first sight.”
Fast forward less than five years, and Hilaria and Alec are now the proud parents of four beautiful children: Carmen (5), Rafael (3), Leo (2), and Romeo (9 months). Interestingly, Romeo was the only child they truly planned for. “With Baby No. 4, we actually sat down and said, ‘What happens if we try again?’” Hilaria shared. “Romeo was the one we were really prepared for, which is kind of funny because the others just kind of happened.”
From Skepticism to Full-Blown Mama Bear Mode
Believe it or not, Hilaria wasn’t always so gung-ho about expanding her family. “When I saw families with lots of kids, I used to think, ‘Wow, that must be absolute chaos,’” she confessed. “I never thought I’d want to have so many kids myself. But once I became a mom, everything shifted. Now, people look at our family and say, ‘How do you handle it?’ And honestly, when it’s your kids, you just figure it out.”
Of course, there are tough days—days where Hilaria feels completely overwhelmed. But then there are those moments when her kids are being adorable, and suddenly, she starts thinking about having another. “There are definitely days when I say, ‘No more kids!’” she joked in an Instagram story last October. “But then there are other days where they’re just so sweet, and I think, ‘Maybe one more wouldn’t be so bad.’ We’ll see.”

How Does She Do It All?
Hilaria credits her ability to manage her large family to a combination of organization and prioritization. “We do a lot of group activities,” she explained. “I’ll bathe them all together, and we always eat meals as a family. But I also make sure to give each of them individual attention. It’s important for me to connect with each child separately, even if it’s just for a few minutes.”
Even though the house can get pretty chaotic, Hilaria wouldn’t trade her life for anything. “People always ask me how I manage, but the truth is, you just do what you have to do,” she said. “And honestly, even on the hardest days, I know I’ll make it through because these kids are my world. They bring so much joy into my life.”
