Genevieve Gorder Opens Up About Missing ‘Trading Spaces’ Reboot Season

Hey there, let me fill you in on something. Genevieve Gorder, the beloved designer from the classic show Trading Spaces, isn’t returning for the next season of the reboot. But don’t worry—she’s not ruling out a future comeback. In a recent chat with People, Genevieve shared that her absence has nothing to do with her decision. “It was not my choice at all,” she clarified. The reboot's next season is set to premiere on March 16, but Genevieve won't be part of it.

So, what’s the deal? Well, it turns out Genevieve had a scheduling conflict. “I had another series already lined up during the same time they were planning to shoot Trading Spaces. It’s just a matter of timing,” the 44-year-old designer explained. Interestingly, this other project is still under wraps—it’s a “top secret” endeavor that Genevieve revealed will debut on Bravo in 2019. Talk about keeping fans on the edge of their seats!

Genevieve Gorder: No Hard Feelings

Even though Genevieve is tied up with another project, she insists there’s no bad blood about not being part of this season of Trading Spaces. “Let me tell you something, these people are my friends and family. We always have each other’s backs, but we all have our own careers to manage,” she shared. Genevieve originally joined the show from 2000 to 2003, took a break, and then returned from 2005 to 2007. So, she knows the value of balancing work and personal life.

  • When Genevieve first learned she wouldn’t appear in the newest episodes, she felt it was important to be the one to break the news to her co-stars. “I wanted to make sure everyone understood that I wasn’t choosing not to be a part of this season. You know how rumors can spread and get twisted. I wanted to be crystal clear and let everyone know how sad I was about not returning—but here’s why, and it’s not because I think I’m above anything,” she explained. That’s some real transparency right there!

    Emotional Goodbyes Among the Cast

Genevieve wasn’t the only one feeling heavy-hearted about the situation. Her long-time co-stars, including host Paige Davis, carpenter Ty Pennington, and interior designer Doug Wilson, were deeply affected by her absence. “It was emotional. We all cried because we’re a family. The originals are a family,” Genevieve said. Paige, in particular, was visibly upset. “She cried. She was like, ‘It’s not gonna be the same without you. We can’t do it without you.’ And I cried too,” Genevieve recalled. “We’re connected forever. She’s the mama bear,” she added with emotion.

    Will Genevieve Return?

But here’s the good news: Genevieve might not be gone for good. When asked if she’d consider coming back for a third season of the reboot, her response was nothing short of enthusiastic. “Absolutely available. Absolutely. There’s no way anyone would ever say no. It just feels so right,” she gushed. “I always want to do Trading Spaces until the day I die.” Now, that’s dedication!
