Growing up in rural Tennessee, Dolly Parton faced challenges that many of us can't even imagine. With 11 siblings and living in poverty, she learned early on the value of family bonds. Despite the hardships, those ties have only grown stronger over the years, especially after the tragic loss of her youngest brother, Floyd Parton, who passed away from lung cancer at the age of 61 last December.
A Legacy of Family First
In a heartwarming reflection, Dolly's sister, Stella Parton, shared her thoughts on the family's enduring connection. "Family is always priority with us," Stella once said. Like Floyd, who followed in Dolly's footsteps as a songwriter, Stella has carved her own niche in the music industry. At 73, she's set to release her newest album, Survivor, in March. Stella fondly recalls how their upbringing shaped their values: "We were there for one another as we grew up, and we’ll always be there for one another at the end," she said.

Roots of Resilience
The Parton family has never forgotten where they came from. Stella exclusively opened up to Closer Weekly, sharing how their humble beginnings shaped their resilience. "We were so disenfranchised — we were on our own as children," Stella said. "That's what made us strong, because we had each other when times were tough. We held each other close, and that bond remains unshaken. Sure, we have our differences, but our love for each other is stronger than anything that could ever tear us apart."
Remembering Floyd Parton
When Floyd passed away late last year, Dolly, Stella, and their siblings—Freida, Randy, Robert, Coy, David, Rachel, Willadeene, and Cassie—came together to release a touching obituary in honor of their beloved brother. Floyd was more than just a family member; he was a renaissance man with a wealth of talents and knowledge. An avid outdoorsman and an incredible cook, Floyd also contributed to Dolly's career by appearing in some of her films, including Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love in 2007 and Rhinestone in 1984, alongside Sylvester Stallone. Notably, he co-wrote the hit song "Rockin' Years" with Dolly and singer Ricky Van Shelton in 1991.
