Christie Brinkley: Embracing Age, Confidence, And Life’s Joys

Christie Brinkley: Embracing Age, Confidence, And Life’s Joys

Let me tell you about Christie Brinkley—she’s a legend in her own right. A few weeks ago, on January 29, Christie turned heads when she celebrated her 65th birthday at New York City’s Gramercy Park Hotel. Now, here’s the kicker: she doesn’t just look like she hasn’t aged since her modeling days in the '70s; she’s also never felt more beautiful or confident. That’s right, folks. Christie Brinkley, a woman who has graced countless magazine covers, is embracing her life more fully now than ever.

Confidence Beyond Compare

When asked if she feels more confident today, Christie didn’t hold back. "I actually think so," she told Us Weekly. Now, listen up, because this is important. Around the age of 50, she explained, you start letting yourself off the hook. You develop a real awareness of what truly matters in life, and you come to realize that other people's opinions don’t carry the weight they once did. The only opinions that really matter are those of the people you love. And these days? Everyone, not just her family and friends, is letting Christie know just how incredible she looks. She told the outlet that she’s all about that flattery.

Embracing the Aging Process

Let me paint you a picture. When Christie started modeling for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue back in 1979, she was incredibly concerned about living up to the image projected by the magazine. She became self-conscious, and it’s something she’s had to manage throughout her career. Now, she’s in a similar situation with aging, but she’s embracing it. "Aging is inevitable," she explained. "If I’m lucky, I’m going to be running around as an older woman with my hard-earned wrinkles. It’s inevitable, and I’m okay with that."

Christie is currently single but has been married four times in the past, most notably to Billy Joel from 1985 to 1994 and to Peter Cook from 1996 to 2008. She mentioned that the dating scene for her isn’t as easy as it once was. "Fewer and farther between! But it’s fun," she said. "It’s not that easy to meet people. When you’re younger, you assume that everyone is single. But now, you assume that everyone is married, so it’s hard to actually meet people."

    No Plans for Marriage

As for walking down the aisle again? Not happening, according to Christie. "I don’t really see a reason for marriage," she revealed. "Maybe there are tax advantages or inheritance advantages or hospital advantages. But I always thought of doing it to have kids. And since I’m not having any more kids, why complicate things? I would have a big celebration party, though."

    Staying True to Herself

Even though Christie is well known for defying the aging process, she’s not immune to the pressures. "I’m painted into a corner where I’m supposed to look good for my age all the time, and it’s inevitable that age is going to catch up with you," she told Closer Weekly at an event for her new show American Beauty Star in New York City. "I don’t want to have to be anything other than what I am." She added, "I want to feel healthy, strong, and fit. So if somebody says, ‘Let’s go skiing!’ I can do it."
