Ellen and Portia’s love story began way back in 2004, and let me tell you, it’s the kind of romance that movies are made of. The couple first crossed paths backstage at a photo shoot for VH1’s Big in ’04 Awards. In a 2005 interview with The Advocate, Portia revealed just how smitten she was the moment she laid eyes on Ellen. She said, “I ran into Ellen at a photo shoot [in 2004], and she took my breath away. That had never happened to me in my life—where I saw somebody and experienced all of those things you hear about in songs and read about in poetry. My knees were weak!”

Fast forward to 2008, and Ellen popped the question with a stunning 3-carat diamond ring. Portia has nothing but admiration for her soulmate, saying, “I respect her so much.
