Learning From Royalty: Anne Hathaway’s Parenting Style
During a recent chat with the Sunday Times, the 36-year-old actress opened up about how she’s modeling her parenting approach after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. “They get down on the child’s level and speak to them eye to eye, making their child feel empowered,” Anne explained. “I thought that was really cool, so I started doing it with my son, Jonathan.” The Devil Wears Prada star went on to talk about how much joy she gets from being a mom to her 2-year-old.
“He’s absolutely beautiful,” Anne gushed, reflecting on her parenting journey. “Of course, I’m not perfect, but if I’m feeling frustrated or distracted, I make sure he’s safe, walk away to calm down, and then come back to him.” She added that one of the hardest parts of motherhood is learning to quiet that critical voice in her head. “I fall short every day, but I don’t beat myself up about it. Instead, I focus on learning and growing from those moments,” she said.

A Lesson in Empathy: A Playdate With Jonathan
Anne, who’s been married to actor Adam Shulman since 2012, shared a touching story about a recent outing with her son. During a visit to a play area in Los Angeles, Anne told Jonathan he couldn’t play in a restricted section. “He got upset, and I said, ‘Of course you’re mad. This is really frustrating. You want to do this thing, your friends are doing it, and I’m saying no? Gosh, that makes total sense,’” she recalled. “The answer is still no, but everything you’re feeling right now is totally legitimate.’ I want there to always be space for his emotions.”
