Though she hasn’t hit the big 4-0 just yet, Kate Hudson is already thinking about how she’s going to celebrate her upcoming birthday. And let’s be honest, it sounds like it’s going to be one heck of a party. Picture this: a gathering of all her nearest and dearest, laughter echoing through the air, and Kate at the center of it all, ready to let loose after months of juggling motherhood and work.
Kate’s Birthday Plans: Bigger Than Ever
On the April 4 episode of Good Morning America, the radiant actress spilled the beans on her birthday plans. “At this point, I just want to tell everybody, ‘Hey, I’m gonna have a party,’ and then everybody shows up,” Kate shared with a smile. She’s clearly ready to embrace the milestone, and who could blame her? After all, turning 40 is a pretty big deal, and Kate knows how to celebrate in style.

Life with Baby Rani: A Balancing Act
Despite the whirlwind that is life with her six-month-old daughter, Rani Rose, Kate’s still determined to make her birthday unforgettable. “I personally, with having a baby, feel like I deserve a really good hangover,” she joked. “I’ve been so good, I’ve been so busy. I’ve been breastfeeding like crazy and I just want some martinis. I want to sleep in. [That’d be] really nice.” It’s clear Kate’s ready for a night where she can kick back, relax, and enjoy some well-deserved downtime.

Kate’s not just a mom to Rani, of course. She’s also the proud parent of Ryder, 15, and Bing, 7, whom she shares with her exes. In the same interview, Kate opened up about how her role as a mom has evolved over the years. “Seeing the boys with her … I feel like I tear up every day,” she confessed. “To see [Ryder] with his sister and to be a real helper and for me to be able to walk away and go, ‘Hey, honey, can you just take the baby?’ And I turn around and I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh.’”
Goldie Hawn’s daughter added, “I’ve been having babies a long time, let’s put it that way. But it’s good. Everyone’s so happy and I feel, right now … even though it’s chaotic, the energy is calm and loving and peaceful right now and I’m just in a great place.”
Post Turkey Day my son comes into our bedroom, takes his sister in his arms and spent some solid early morning time loving her. I watched thinking… I’m Thankful for love. Unconditional love and that my children embody what it is when one feels loved. ❤️ Let’s all have an entire year where we stay grateful. Keep this party going 🙂 @mr.ryderrobinson #Rani🌹
Is Kate the Cool Mom?
When it comes to being the "cool mom," Kate’s got it down. “I think when they want something, I’m definitely the cool mom,” she joked. “I was so young when I had Ryder … it’s a different relationship than I think I even have with Bing. We’ve almost grown up together — good or bad, whatever that is gonna end up reflecting as in the future — but I think I’m cool until I start singing too much and then I’m not cool.”
And yes, there’s a funny story to back that up. “My 7-year-old … the other day, I was singing, and slowly but surely I saw the dial on the volume on the television go to 50,” she recalled. “He just drowned me out with the television!”
As we wait for Kate’s big birthday bash, one thing’s for sure: this year is shaping up to be a memorable one for the star.
