Gloria Estefan Reveals the Key to Her Long-Lasting Marriage
So, what’s the secret sauce that’s kept Gloria Estefan and her husband, producer-musician Emilio Estefan, together for four decades? In an exclusive chat with Closer Weekly, the legendary singer, now 61, opened up about her enduring love story. "There’s a lot of deep respect, and we’re very supportive of each other," she said. "We want each other to be successful and we do everything in our power to make that happen." Gloria shared these heartfelt words at the TCA Winter Press Tour on February 1 while promoting their upcoming special, Emilio & Gloria Estefan: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, set to premiere on PBS on May 3 at 9 p.m. ET.
Love at First Sight? Not for This Couple
When it comes to love at first sight, Gloria and Emilio aren’t believers. "You can have lust at first sight, but when you marry someone, you better have things in common," Gloria explained. And boy, do they ever! One of their most cherished memories is tied to their wedding song, "The Day You Say You Love Me." Gloria recorded this tender tune on her 2013 album, The Standards. "I sang it to my hubby in the studio," she recalled with a smile. "I was holding him, and he was crying. It was such a beautiful moment."

A Match Made in Music Heaven
Gloria and Emilio tied the knot back in 1978, and their bond has only grown stronger over the years. In a past interview with Entertainment Tonight, Emilio echoed his wife's sentiments, crediting "respect and love" as the foundation of their long-lasting relationship. He even joked that being Latino gives them an extra edge. "More than anything else, being Latino, you say, ‘Yes, Baby, whatever you want,’” he quipped, highlighting their playful dynamic.

Emilio’s humor is a constant source of joy for Gloria, especially on those tough days. "He makes me laugh every single day of my life," she gushed. And when it comes to balancing love and career, Gloria is clear: her love for Emilio rivals her passion for music. "Music was always a personal thing for me," she once told Closer Weekly. "It’s not like I set out to be famous. I just love music."
