Life in Manhattan for Melissa Gilbert has become a delightful culinary adventure. The actress, who is now sharing her days with her husband, actor Timothy Busfield, finds immense joy in the city’s vibrant food scene. Whether it's enjoying a leisurely brunch, savoring wonton soup at a cozy Chinese spot downtown, or indulging in ramen at her favorite Japanese noodle house, Melissa's love for food is evident. Sometimes, the couple doesn't even need to leave their apartment to relish these delights, thanks to the city's efficient delivery services.
Living in New York City marks a significant shift for Melissa, who spent the previous five years embracing a quieter life in rural Michigan. "One of the things I love most about living in NYC," she has expressed, "is the ease with which one can have anything delivered from pretty much anywhere." This convenience has truly transformed her lifestyle.

Rediscovering Herself
After stepping away from the relentless demands of Hollywood, Melissa Gilbert embarked on a journey of self-discovery. This period allowed her to reconnect with her true passions and regain her sense of identity. “Everybody has their own journey,” Melissa, now 54, shared with Parade. “It was a conscious decision on my part to return to theater in New York because there are so many more opportunities for women my age on stage.”

A Childhood in the Spotlight
Despite the challenges she faced later in life, Melissa cherishes her formative years on television. Her role as Laura Ingalls, or "Half-pint," on Little House on the Prairie provided her with a unique and idyllic upbringing. “It was a great place to grow up if you're a child performer,” Melissa reminisced. “It was fun and amazing.”
However, the transition from child star to adult actress proved to be a bumpy road. After Little House ended in 1983, Melissa found herself unprepared for the harsh realities of the entertainment industry. At just 20 years old, she underwent multiple cosmetic surgeries in an attempt to fit the starlet mold. “I went down the road that everyone else does—nose job, boob job, fillers, and Botox,” she confessed to First For Women and later admitted to Megyn Kelly, “I fell right into that trap.”
